He will then issue us with a formal letter to take to treasury stating they have chosen WIC to be their offtakers.

I visited Bomas of Kenya and met with Mr. Martin Kiprono Maritim, Head of Procurement/Supply Chain Manager, to introduce the Circular Economy initiative and explain its purpose. ‎ ‎Mr. Martin initially expressed strong reservations, stating that, in his opinion, the tendering process was illegal and contrary to procurement law. He was also concerned that the circular could raise audit issues, as he would need to demonstrate that our company is among those enlisted under the procurement framework. He added that he was open to challenging the circular and believed others might do the same. ‎ ‎I acknowledged his concerns and assured him that the pre-qualification process had been conducted legally and that any disposal process would follow the required legal and procurement procedures. ‎ ‎When asked what would make him open to working with us, he advised that we share our company profile and bid alongside other companies. He also mentioned that Bomas of Kenya would soon conduct a supplier assessment that would include disposal. ‎ ‎Mr. Martin further informed me that a disposal list had already been submitted to Treasury but was still awaiting approval, and therefore had not yet been posted on e-GP as required. ‎ ‎I also established that Bomas of Kenya had previously worked with House of Procurement. I informed him of our partnership with House of Procurement and explained that the Circular Economy initiative is intended to make the disposal process easier and more effective. I encouraged him to consider the initiative positively. ‎ ‎At the end of the meeting, Mr. Martin exchanged contact details with me, agreed to give the matter further thought, and clarified that he is not the final decision-maker.

He was very helpful and disclosed that at the moment they do not have Lot 2 waste to dispose but as for Lot 1 they have motor vehicles going through valuation so that they can set the reserve price. He stated they have around 200 motor vehicles to auction during second quarter of financial year as they have not disposed them for 2 decades. He stated that the PS public works had an auctioneer in mind but he has not awarded him the contract yet. He stated it would be wise for Waziri to contact the PS direct but not to disclose that we have met with Mr. Mwangi or that he is the one who gave us the information to avoid conflict, but he stated we can use the information while speaking to the PS to get the contract. I have tried get PS Joel on phone all day for a meet up but I wasn't successful. His phone would ring then go off to busy and later in the day it went totally off.
